MDC to host free fishing day for women Sept. 26 in Lebanon

LEBANON, Mo. – Missouri’s trout parks offer tremendous fishing opportunities, and the Missouri Department of Conservation’s (MDC) Bennett Spring Fish Hatchery is proudly sponsoring a free fishing day for women later this month.

MDC invites women to fish at Bennett Spring State Park’s Women’s Free Fishing Day from 7:30 a.m. to 7:15 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 26, at 26142 Highway 64A in Lebanon.

During Women’s Free Fishing Day, there is no license or daily tag fee. Female anglers can pick up their free daily trout tag at the park store on the evening before or any time during the day of the event on Sept. 26.

A part of the park’s Zone 2 fishing area will be reserved for participants on the day of the event. Volunteers will be available to help anglers throughout the day, along with members of the Bennett Spring Fly Tying Group, who will be hosting live fly-tying demonstrations. Participants are encouraged to bring their own fishing equipment.

This event is sponsored by MDC, Missouri Department of Natural Resources, Bennett Spring State Park Store, Capital City Fly Fishers, and the Bennett Spring Fly Tying group.
